How to fix geocoding errors in Track-POD

Created by Tanya Derevyanko, Modified on Tue, 11 Feb at 9:48 AM by Tanya Derevyanko

When you import orders with new addresses to Track-POD they get geocoded once displayed on the map or optimized into routes. However, in some cases you might notice yellow or red exclamation marks nearby the address.

- the yellow exclamation mark is displayed when the Google Geocoding API returns the response 'Approximate' to the address provided, that means Google Geocoding service was not able to find the exact building (rooftop address) and provided the coordinates for the approximate area.

- the red exclamation mark is displayed when there are no results found (usually when the address is completely incorrect) as in the example below.

How to fix these discrepancies?

1. Filter the approximate and not geocoded addresses by clicking the exclamation mark in the heading to get only the problematic addresses displayed.

2. Click the Exclamation mark to open the Edit address window

3. Click Find address on the map button as er screenshot above, if the pin is dropped incorrectly edit the address and try again. If yet the address cannot be geocoded click on the map in the correct pin location and click Get Address.

4. Once you are happy with the result click Save. Track-POD Directories -> Addresses will get updated.

If you see that there is a persistent issue with incorrectly geocoded addresses please contact [email protected] and we will deep dive into your case.
