How to set up sending SMS notifications via Twilio

Track-POD allows you to send SMS notifications to your customers using either a numeric number or an Alphanumeric Sender ID such as 'Track-POD'. If you already have a Twilio account, you can easily configure Track-POD to send notifications through your Twilio phone number. If you haven't signed up for Twilio yet, we recommend doing so to take advantage of this feature.

Step-by-Step Setup

1. Configure Twilio Settings:

- Go to Track-POD Settings > Notifications > Advanced tab.

- Select the option to Send SMS using Twilio and click on Set up Twilio configuration.

2. Fill in Required Fields:

- A dialogue window will appear prompting you to enter specific information from your Twilio account.

Your Twilio Account Information

1. Account SID:

- This unique identifier can be found in your Twilio General settings. It is essential for authenticating your API requests.

2. API Key:

- Create an API key by navigating to Settings > API keys & tokens. You can access this section directly from the Account Dashboard.

- Choose between a Standard or Restricted API key. If you opt for a Restricted key, ensure you grant the following permissions:

- Messaging → messages → Create

- Services → services → Create

3. Save Your API Key SID and Secret:

- After creating the API key, copy and securely store both the API Key SID and Secret. It’s important to set the API Key region to the United States due to restrictions in other regions.

4. Enter Your Twilio Phone Number or Alphanumeric Sender ID:

- Input the phone number you wish to use for sending SMS notifications. If you prefer an Alphanumeric Sender ID, check Twilio’s documentation to confirm if it’s available in your region.

5. Confirmation Phone Number:

- Provide the phone number where Track-POD will send a confirmation code via SMS. Please note that the cost of this confirmation SMS will be deducted from your Twilio balance.

6. Save Your Configuration:

- After entering all the required information, click Save.

Congratulations! You have successfully set up SMS notifications through your Twilio account. From now on, Track-POD will send SMS notifications to your customers using your Twilio phone number or Alphanumeric Sender ID.
