How to set up email notifications from your SMTP server?

1. Default Track-POD Server: By default, all email notifications are sent from the Track-POD server. This is a quick and easy way to get started without any additional configuration.

2. Custom SMTP Server: You can configure a custom SMTP server to send notifications from your own email address. This option is particularly beneficial for businesses that want to maintain brand consistency.

Important Considerations

When using a standard SMTP server associated with free email providers like Yahoo, Hotmail, or Gmail, be aware that these services often impose limits on the number of emails you can send per day. This can lead to issues with email delivery, especially if you're sending notifications to a large number of recipients. Any limitations or configuration issues that arise will need to be addressed with your email service provider.

Setting Up Your Custom SMTP Server

If you choose to set up a custom SMTP server, follow these simple steps:

Step 1: Navigate to Settings -> Notifications -> Custom.

Step 2: In the Email Configuration section, switch to Use Custom defined SMTP and click on the Set up a custom SMTP server option. A pop-up window will appear for you to fill in the required fields:

- SMTP Server: Enter `smtp.gmail.com` (or your preferred SMTP server).

- Port: Use `465` for secure connections.

- Sender Email: This should be the email address you want to send notifications from.

- SMTP Username: This is typically the same as your Sender Email.

- Password: Enter the password for the Sender Email account.

- Confirmation Email: Provide an email address where you would like to receive a confirmation message.

Once you have filled in the required fields, click Save. If you encounter an error stating that the username and password are not accepted, ensure that you have allowed less secure apps in the Security settings of your Google account and consider disabling 2-step verification.

Step 3: A confirmation code will be sent to your specified "Confirmation Email" address. Enter this code in the pop-up window, and you will be ready to send email notifications from your custom SMTP server.

If you ever wish to revert to using the Track-POD server for email notifications, simply switch back to Send Emails using Track-POD in the settings.
