How to create and edit recurring/repeating routes?

Created by Tanya Derevyanko, Modified on Mon, 10 Feb at 2:51 PM by Tanya Derevyanko

Repeat Route function allows you to create all kinds of scenarios for regular events/deliveries scheduled on a daily, weekly, monthly as well as quarterly basis. These events/deliveries may be generated in Track-POD automatically.

Note: recurring routes will become visible to drivers one day prior to the scheduled event (they will remain invisible two days and more before the scheduled date).  In the dashboard, recurring routes will be visible for the upcoming week only.

  • Create a route you are going to repeat, give it a descriptive name for convenience (R-Every-Wen-CA1)/ Select this route and click on action button to open the drop-down menu

  • Click Repeat Route...

  • The example of a repeated route for weekly Monday, Wednesday, Friday deliveries. In this window, you can also set the date till when you are going to repeat this route.

Recurring routes for the upcoming week will be displayed in the dashboard in grey colour.

How to edit recurring/repeating routes?

In Track-Pod, when you make changes to a route that is set to repeat, those changes can affect both the current active route and any inactive (greyed out) routes. Here's what that means:

1. Current Route

If you modify the details of a recurring route (for example, changing the delivery window, stops, or the driver's assignment), the changes will apply immediately to the active route.

This means the updates will be reflected in the current day's or week's delivery plan.

2. Inactive (Greyed Out) Routes

Inactive routes are the future occurrences of the repeat route that haven't been activated yet  (displayed in grey).

When changes are made to the repeat schedule or the details of a route, these updates will also apply to inactive, upcoming routes that haven't been started or activated.

For example, if you modify a repeat route’s schedule or add new delivery instructions, those changes will automatically apply to the greyed-out routes as well, ensuring consistency in the recurring plan.

Example:

If you're scheduling a weekly route for the next month, and you decide to change the delivery window or the sequence of stops, both the active route and future occurrences (the greyed-out ones) will update automatically.

This ensures that no matter when a route is due, it will follow the updated plan or instructions.

If you want to avoid making changes to future routes, you might need to manually update each inactive route instead of applying the changes universally.
